The Gherkin as this building is popularly called, is located close to Liverpool St. Station, in the financial heart of London. I have been hoping to take photos of this building all week, but the weather has been awful. I bit the bullet and tried some shots in the rain today. This should look better at night or against a nice blue sky, so i will come back to this.
As phallic as it gets. Great shot too by the way. Dude @ Thursday 1 December 2005
you did well. i love the viewpoint you have chosen - it exentuates the scale of the famous structure! emma @ Thursday 1 December 2005
It's always fun to shoot the same thing in lots of different conditions. This is sure one wild looking building! Rock @ Friday 2 December 2005
Those lines really make some cool looking patterns. Derrick @ Friday 2 December 2005
Great contrast between this two buildings. Your shot insist on this huge glass and metal structure. Fine use of B&W. Still @ Friday 2 December 2005
Cool, i like this building, i also liek the contrast between the dark structure and the white sky. A night shot of this would be really cool, do they light it up? SteveO @ Friday 2 December 2005
aaah the gerkin. love photographing this building. i like how you incorporated the old and the new frisky? @ Friday 2 December 2005
Ooh - I tried something similar to this a couple of months ago, but it didn't come out anywhere near as good as this. Nice work! Tim @ Friday 2 December 2005
Superb perspective; I never find myself in this part of town but have often wanted to capture the building. It would take some going to surpass this. Alastair @ Friday 2 December 2005
Wow! Nice long shot almost looks wider than 33mm. Lee @ Sunday 4 December 2005
This is excellent - I actually quite like the overcast sky here - blue skies are overrated. You've certainly got some great tones and contrast, plus the comparison of the old and modern architecture is nice. owen @ Sunday 4 December 2005
I like this shot, reminds me of an old style New York image, you know the ones they did of skyscrapers as they were being built. I plan on going into London to photograph this one evening. Such a striking building and I am dying to use all my new manfrotto equipment. I read about this the other day as I was researching where it is. Only four floors left to let. N ot sure if it is a potential "target" though. tobias @ Tuesday 6 December 2005
